The Italian Federation and League will meet this Thursday, May 28, to decide the definitive return date for Serie A, the Italian football championship. The Government of the country has indicated two possible dates for the long-awaited return: 13 or 20 June, however the final decision will only be taken at today's meeting.
Confirmation of the meeting and the two possible dates was advanced on Sunday by the Italian Sports Minister, Vincenzo Spadafora, so that the 2019/2020 football season, which was suspended due to the new coronavirus pandemic, could be concluded.
«The two possible dates for the restart of Serie A are 13 or 20 June. The protocol for the return of the championship has arrived, it is very similar to the training rules. Next Thursday I will convene the Federation and the League and together we will decide if and when to start again (the championship) in Italy », said at the time the person in charge of the channel 'TG3'.
It was also mentioned the possibility of the games being broadcast on an open signal so that all Italians can watch without limitations, also avoiding population gatherings in public places, namely cafes.
«We are referring to the German model. In Germany, Sky found an agreement for broadcasting on open signal (on Sky Deutschland), respecting the rights of those who have subscribed to the championship games. I think we also have to think about it in Italy. I would avoid meetings in public places, in bars. Since people cannot go to the stadium, they could watch the games directly at home, safely, "announced Spadafora.
It is recalled that the Italian Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, authorized the return of collective training in the country on 18 May, after on the 4th of the same month individual training had already been allowed.
