The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 is expected to debut sometime in August, but there are still doubts about how capable its camera configuration will be. A new leak suggests a particular detail that raised our hopes.
About the GalaxyClub, which says its sources suggest that the more expensive Note 20 model will include a periscope camera: the type in which the components are arranged to stretch the back of the box, allowing for greater zoom levels.
This is interesting because the Galaxy S20 Ultra also has a periscope mechanism – so these cameras look like similar cameras, even though the rumors that Note 20 abandons the 100x ‘Space Zoom’ feature are true.
Even if the 100x digital zoom is off the cards for the Galaxy Note 20 range, a periscope camera would guarantee better-than-average zoom capabilities. The premium Note 20 model may end up matching the 4x optical zoom on the S20 Ultra or even more.
This latest leak only mentions the Galaxy Note 20 Plus, one of the two or maybe three devices we expect in August. Like the Galaxy S20 series, camera specifications can be a major differentiator between these new devices.
It is also important to keep in mind that the jump from the Galaxy S range to the Galaxy Note is not always great. Last year, the Note 10 Plus had the same rear camera as the S10 Plus, with the exception of an extra depth sensor.
As with any unofficial rumor, do not confirm it yet – but amid reports that the 100x digital zoom would not pass into the Note 20 series, it is reassuring that it will still come packing excellent component photos.
We've seen a lot of leaks and rumors about the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series so far, including high-quality renderings that aim to showcase the final design of the devices.
