The Lisbon City Council launched this Friday the first stone of the first batch of 128 affordable fires, out of a total of five, on Avenida das Forças Armadas, budgeted at 14 million euros.
In about a year and a half we will have hundreds of people, young people and middle class families, who without this project [Renda Acessível], without the initiative of the chamber, they would not have this opportunity [de viver no centro da cidade]”, Said the Mayor of Lisbon, Fernando Medina, in the session that marked the start of the work.
A total of 476 houses for young people and middle class families will be built on those municipal land, in a global investment of 80 million euros.
According to the Câmara de Lisboa, the remaining four lots of the project, which will have, in addition to housing, various social facilities, “should all be under construction by the end of the year”.
Fernando Medina stressed that this construction, on municipal land “for decades without destination”, is part of the Affordable Income project of the so-called Integrated Operation of Entrecampos, “a joint reading about a central area of the city of Lisbon that had numerous problems to solve” .
The mayor also pointed out that the future tenants of these fires “may have housing, in a prime area, central to the city of Lisbon”, of “very high quality” and “built to the highest standards from the environmental point of view”, allowing “a life Of Quality”.
In an area that will have infrastructures at the level of pre-school, at the level of schools very close by and at the level of strengthening the infrastructure to support older people ”, added the Mayor of Lisbon.
Medina also defended that a “short cycle city”, in which people live closer to the workplace and where their children study, “is a great protection from the point of view of life (…), health and the quality of life ”, reiterating the need to accelerate the municipal response to access to housing.
The Accessible Income regulation establishes that each person or family must spend a maximum of 30% of their net salary on income. According to the council, the value of the rent of a T0 varies between 150 and 400 euros, that of a T1 is between 150 and 500 euros and a T2 will have an income that can go from 150 to 600 euros, while the typologies superiors will have a minimum income of 200 euros and a maximum of 800.
